MUSE PROJECT
MUSE PROJECT
My photographic practice explores the evolving dynamic between photographer and muse, challenging traditional power structures and seeking to reframe the muse as an empowered collaborator. Inspired by historical precedents — particularly Alfred Stieglitz’s portraits of Georgia O’Keeffe — my work investigates how the photographic gaze can shift from possession to partnership.
Stieglitz’s portrayal of O’Keeffe, while visually powerful, raises questions about control, authorship, and the representation of women in art. This prompted me to reflect on my own photographic relationships and reimagine the muse not as a passive subject, but as an active co-creator. Each collaboration in this project was grounded in dialogue, trust, and mutual artistic exploration.
This project also serves as a broader commentary on the role of models and muses in contemporary visual culture — especially within fashion — where their contributions are often undervalued or objectified. I aim to challenge this marginalization by highlighting the muse’s visionary potential, emotional presence, and creative influence.
Ultimately, my practice is rooted in collaboration, critical reflection, and ethical image-making. I see photography not simply as documentation, but as a space of relational exchange — one that can foster deeper understanding, self-awareness, and mutual inspiration.
